Hey there. I know I haven't posted anything in a bit, I apologize. All half dozen of you who actually remember Whatever This Is exists deserve better. The truth is, I actually haven't stopped writing. I've just stopped sharing as I go. Let me explain...
I had so much fun writing the Chronicles of Sizzle! It was a creative outlet that I never realized I needed to have. Sure, I've enjoyed writing for a fair bit, but mostly I've shared random silly thoughts as they enter (and exit) my scrambled noggin. But then I read Jim Carrey's Memoirs and Misinformation. It inspired me to start my own fictional memoirs.
Heh heh... it's funny that it actually feels weird to admit to the fictionality of Sizzle. I mean, obviously I'm not traveling between layers of the multiverse (that I know of), you and I both know that. But to admit to reality... But I digress.
Anyway, I enjoyed writing about Sizzle. And someday I might put the whole story together into one cohesive piece, revise the crap out of it (there were definitely some inconsistencies from start to finish), and release it to the world in one form or another. But, don't hold your breath or anything. It may be a while.
What I'm trying to say is that though I haven't posted lately, I have still been writing. I've started a novel. An epic fantasy. At this point, I'm over 20,000 words in. Although I haven't counted the words in Sizzle, I suspect I may have already surpassed its word count. The number of words doesn't really matter, I only mention it because I've been using other methods to write this time around, and I'm actually provided a word count this time. So I find it interesting to watch the numbers rise.
This new story is centered around a couple of Dungeons & Dragons character I've used and fell in love with. One's a feisty little snark-tongue halfling fighter with sticky fingers, and a penchant for pranks involving fish. The other is a magically infused man of unknown origin who can play enchanting music and refuses to take a life no matter what the circumstances. They embark on a mission to save the banished gods.
I've been listening to tons of writing seminars, lectures, podcasts, and audio books. I'm of course drawing inspiration from a bunch of my favorite authors; including J.R.R. Tolkien, Terry Goodkind, Robert Jordan, and Brandon Sanderson.
My goal is to one day be a published author. That would be incredible! After that had been accomplished, I'll set my goals a little higher and make writing my full time job.
I'll try not to let my blog go to the wayside. I know I've already done that to an extent, but Whatever This Is has gotten me to where I'm at today. It would be a shame to let it fade away.
So folks, I look forward to the day when I can announce that my book will be hitting the shelves, and all six of you will get autographed copies for being here right from the start! They'll be worth thousands (of pennies) some day! Until then, I'll see what I can do to keep this blog alive, even if a little less frequently.
Let's just hope I can accomplish this goal before bookstores disappear altogether. Or the world ends. Whichever comes first.
