Top Ten Things I Learned About Myself in 2023

10. No matter what time I set my alarm for in the morning, I will stare at words and pictures and pictures with words until my bladder threatens to rupture inside my abdomen and surround my organs with pee.

9. I'm not a morning person. I don't wanna.

8. I'm not an evening person. I just can't.

7. I'm not much of an afternoon person, either. Though this may deceptively be my most active time of the day, it's only because society forces me. I still don't wanna.

6. I can sometimes write pretty words that amuse and entertain (myself). Occasionally, someone outside of my own brain will also chuckle. Those people are weird. (Those people are my people)

5. When provided the time and a quiet space, I can write a novel. Over 80,000 words written in 2023!

4. I'm terrible at providing myself time and a quiet space.

3. I've begun entertaining the notion that I'm autistic. I have mixed emotions about this, but mostly relieved that there may finally be an explanation that jives with the way I fit in this world. (More on this in later posts as I explore it further)

2. I'm far too distractable to get- ooh! The guinea pig just hopped and spun a 180 in the air! So cute!

1. The older I get, the faster every year flies by. 2023 only took 6 months to get to Christmas. If this continues, by the time I'm 42 again for the tenth time, each month will only be a week long! I really gotta get my shit together if I'm going to get much accomplished in 2024. And it will start with me getting out of bed right now, because I don't think I can do the peepee dance much longer without internal damage.

I hope all seven of you who reads this find ways to make 2024 your year of success. Whether that is professionally, or whether it is personal goals that will make your life closer to what you desire, I hope that you achieve them through hard work and determination. That way you can really own it. Luck is for suckers, anyway. I have yet to win more than $20 ever on a scratch ticket. So,  create your own path in 2024, and may it bring you peace and happiness along the way.
